“Unfair Tax”
Three weeks out, a poll showed Congressman David Scott leading his Republican opponent by only 3 points. We chose to go on the attack; this ad put his opponent on the defensive for her support of the so-called “Fair Tax” and helped Rep. Scott cruise to a 69%-31% victory in 2008.
“Getting Things Done”
In 2008, Georgia Congressman David Scott faced his most serious political challenge — an African-American opponent who raised more than $4 million against him. Rep. Scott took a two-pronged approach in his advertising: first, tell people what he had accomplished in Congress, then draw a contrast between himself and his opponent. This ad, “Getting Things Done,” was the first ad of that 2008 campaign. The approach worked as Rep. Scott went on to win 69% of the vote — a resounding victory for a GOP target!
